About The Beard

This is me. Yes, I have a beard and Yes, I love beer.

I’ve had a long standing relationship with beer, as you’ll read in my very first blog post it’s not always been as adventurous and extravagant as it is now.

People see the passion I have for beer as silly, ridiculous, dangerous and unhealthy, but that’s the beauty of beer, it’s whatever you want it to be. People that have a relationship with alcohol are often stigmatised as alcoholics and the classic line ‘I don’t need alcohol to have a good time’ line is batted about, but people miss the point.

Beer, much like food brings people together, Whether you’re socialising down the pub with a group of friends, having a couple in front of the TV, going ‘out out’ or even just because you want one, there’s a beer for every occasion. From pale ales to stout, from Belgium blondes to Coffee porters, from deep red rye ales to sessions. A few years ago I was a pure novice, aimlessly wandering from dull lager to dull lager, but since then I’ve had my eyes, nose and taste buds blown wide open on just how incredible beer can get.

I’ll be reviewing beers, and also giving you an update on my very own brewing journey, from a complete novice to a (hopefully) beery genus, let’s get to it.
